UPVC doors
To check your upvc door lock is working properly open the door and operate the lock system. If it works smoothly as when to door is shut, it may be ok. If however the lock system is hard to operate and needs too firm a lift on the handles to allow the cylinder key to turn it is in need of urgent attention. Failure in this will certainly result in the lock system being jammed shut and locked.
A common fault with a upvc door lock is the cylinder clutch slipping and therefore not allowing the key to be removed unless the lock is unlocked. The cylinder can be re-set but it is not recommended. A replacement cylinder can be as little as £20.00. Its a good idea to purchase a new cylinder with keys.
